USA: medical cannabis moved to Schedule III
Since 28 April 2026 the DEA lists cannabis from state-licensed medical programmes and FDA-approved cannabis products in Schedule III. Licensed operators are no longer subject to tax rule 280E.

Germany imported around 201 tonnes of medical cannabis in 2025
According to the BfArM's Federal Opium Agency, imports of medical cannabis rose to 201.1 tonnes in 2025, almost three times the previous year. The largest countries of origin were Canada and Portugal.

US executive order speeds up cannabis rescheduling
On 18 December 2025 the US President directed the Department of Justice by executive order to complete the rescheduling of cannabis from Schedule I without delay.
